Rock Climbing Event with Tucson Spellers
June 2025 – Tucson AZ
 
🧗 Rock Solid Climbing + Fitness – $20 per participant 🧗
 

We had two great events! Spellers engaged in great motor skills like building strength and coordination, and challenged their body and brain — all in a fun, inclusive environment with friends!

💥 What we did:

    • Safety orientation with Rock Solid’s awesome trained staff
    • Climbing in harnesses with ropes and one-on-one support
    • One climber at a time = plenty of guidance + encouragement
    • Water & snacks provided (feel free to bring your own too!)

Great Poetic Hearts

42nd Annual Winter Parade

Teva Community proudly took part in Prescott’s Annual Winter Parade. What a wonderful day with over 25,000 attendees!

Special thanks to Brenda Terris and Sara Hopper for organizing this wonderful event and to our amazing participants photographed here: Joshua Greiner (with mom Amy), Morgan and Joseph (with mom Mary), and Sam.

We had a blast riding around and waving from the van that was so generously donated by Lamb Chevrolet. And let’s not forget our moment with the mayor of Prescott, Phil Goode, who joined us for a photo op in front of our van!

Autistic Artistry with the Autism Society of Southern Arizona

Teva Community sponsored the second annual “Autistic Artistry” with The Autism Society of Southern Arizona (@autismsociety_soaz).

Our team of staff, volunteers, and parents made this an incredible event!

Friends, songwriting, spelling, art and more on our beautiful campus!

Brian Laidlaw set the all the lyrics to music and we had a public concert at a local coffee shop. Autistically Inclined Director, Julie Sando, and local therapist, Sara Hopper, introduced more local Prescott nonspeakers to spelling.

Rock Climbing and Rhythm with Suzanne Oliver

April 2024 – Scottsdale, AZ

Teva Community partnered and sponsored a Spellers Cove event in Arizona! Rock climbing, group spelling, pizza and a presentation from the magnificent Suzanne Oliver of Neurologic Music Therapy Services of Arizona

Making’ Waves – Spelling, Surfing and Boating Retreat
 October 2023 – San Diego, CA
 

The spellers took to the ocean and combined surfing and boating (2 kinds!) with spelling workshops and motor planning activities all over San Diego county led by Autistically Inclined’s director, Julie Sando.

Teva Workshops and Retreats provide opportunities for individuals (spellers, parents, siblings, professionals, volunteers) to learn and practice new communication methods and skills. They also provide an all too rare sense of belonging, fun with peers and opportunities to form lasting relationships with other families.

Through generous grants and donations from the Myra Reinhard Family Foundation, Next for Autism, the Autism and Communication Center at CLU,  Pioneer Foundation of San Diego/WebeOB and Waves4All, we were able to keep costs affordable for participants.

Second Annual Spellers Songwriting Workshop

July 2023 – Prescott, AZ

Our Spellers Songwriting Workshop was so much fun!

Brian Laidlaw of Unrestricted Interests joined us for a second summer to work with each speller individually to create their own song, as well as a collaborative song. He set the lyrics to music and performed all of the songs on the last day of the workshop. Joining him this year were Autistically Inclined Director, Julie Sando and Becky Griffin of Advancing Life Learners.

Spellers had the opportunity to work on songwriting and other text-based communication skills while connecting with peers and participating in the joys of camp.

Teva Workshops and Retreats provide opportunities for individuals (spellers, parents, siblings, professionals, volunteers) to learn and practice new communication methods and skills. They also provide an all too rare sense of belonging, fun with peers and opportunities to form lasting relationships with other families.

Camp Teva/Camp Lebeau Reunion: Past and Future an Then Some!

Over 60 alum and friends joined us at the Teva Community property to reminisce about the past and learn about the future vision of their beloved camp. With barbecue prepared by none other than our former camp chef Marilyn Levin!

Songwriting Workshop

June 2022 – Prescott, AZ

We held our first spelling event on our property with just a handful of families, but an abundance of enthusiam. Brian Laidlaw of Unrestricted Interests led us in songwriting. Spellers and parents led us in a variety of spelling and movement activities. It was a great success that we hope to have for years to come!
